It was a day in March when I took a small step on the path of flowers, without knowing then very well what it meant and what would follow. Together with a friend, we treated ourselves to an Ikebana workshop, held by Professor Florentina Vinica Barbu, certified by Ikebana, 2nd grade Sanyo, in the Sogetsu School, founder and president of the Ikebana International Bucharest Chapter #269 Association.
It was a moment of relaxation, of connecting with a creative side that is rarely used in the routine of everyday life. And this, with the help of flowers. But the most important thing was that a few days later, I discovered that Ikebana courses are held in Romania, also with the same teacher.
For me, Ikebana means more than just arranging flowers according to certain rules. It means being closer to myself, taking a break from my daily routine and obligations, exercising my creative side, and giving myself the freedom to express what I feel. In addition, the joy of working with flowers, which bring so much beauty into our lives, is unmatched. A petal in a unique shade, a twisted leaf, the curve of a twig, the contrast between colours, the shape of the vase in which the arrangement is made—all are part of an equation that means beauty, balance, harmony. And this equation is also a transposition of the inner state into an outer, visible, palpable form.
