Andreea Georgescu – Ikebana Artist

[ Andreea Georgescu has been studying ikebana for 20 years. She currently holds the 3rd grade teaching certificate and is pursuing studies for the 2nd grade. She is a member of the Sogetsu Teacher's Association, and the flower name awarded to her by the head of the Sogetsu School, Akane Teshigahara, is Seitō 青冬 (Blue Winter). She is the founder and coordinator of the first and only Sogetsu “Study Group” in Romania.]

  • Ikebana demonstration at BookFest 2022, at the stand of the Embassy of Japan. Japan was the special guest at that edition.

  • Demonstration and workshop at the Residence of the Ambassador of Japan, H.E. Mr. Hiroshi Ueda. Participants were members of the Diplomatic Corps, invited by the Embassy of Japan (January 2023).

  • Demonstration at the International Tourism Fair, at the booth of the Japan National Tourism Organization (2023).

  • Ikebana exhibition at the opening event of Cărturești Fandom Verona (Japan section) – (2023).

  • Demonstration and workshop at the Residence of the Ambassador of Japan, H.E. Mr. Hiroshi Ueda. Participants were members of the International Women’s Association, invited by the Embassy of Japan (May 2023).

  • Ikebana exhibition organized during the Japanese Culture Days 2023, at the Romanian-American University.

  • Demonstration at the closing event of the exhibition “The Art of Restoration – Chinese and Japanese Artworks” at the National Museum of Art of Romania (2023).

  • Demonstration for the “International Aikido Seminar for Children” in Bucharest, at Dumkan Dojo (2023).

  • Ikebana exhibition at Cărturești Fandom, organized by CSRJ-AH ikebana group, in the presence of H.E. Ambassador Hiroshi Ueda (December 2023).

  • Demonstration for the Asian Week at Aletheea School in Bucharest (2024).

  • Ikebana demonstration at the Romanian Sushi Cup 2024.

  • Ikebana exhibition at the National Museum of Art of Romania – “Beyond the Borders of the Floating World” (June 2024).

  • Demonstrations and workshops at the Transilvania International Film Festival 2024, Focus Japan edition, in Cluj.

  • Demonstration and workshop for “Speaking Club No. 4: The Art of Ikebana – cultivating beauty, conversation, and connection”, part of the “Help to Help Ukraine” project (July 2024).

  • Demonstration at the Tanabata event organized by Nemira Publishing House, at Cărturești Verona (July 2024).

  • Demonstration for the Ikebana Festival organized by Ikebana International Bucharest and USAMV (October 2024).

  • Demonstration at the launch of a new book by the famous Japanese author Yoko Ogawa, at Humanitas Cișmigiu Bookstore (November 2024).

  • Ikebana demonstration as part of the project “Rendez-vous aux jardins”, organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute Tokyo and hosted by the Embassy of Romania in Japan, Tokyo (June 2025).

  • Weekly ikebana courses taught at the the Romanian - Japanese Studies Center ‘Angela-Hondru’, since April 2024.

  • Created ikebana arrangements for numerous events, such as the academic year opening at the Romanian - American University (2025); “GO polytrade – a Mix of Strategic Japanese Game and Business Culture”, at Crowne Plaza (2025); exhibitions organized by Ikebana International Bucharest at USAMV (2024-2025), Yuki Restaurant (2015) etc.

Date of Birth: 07.07.1982

Education: Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest – Economic Engineering – top of the class (2005); master’s degree at the Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest – Structural Engineering (2006); currently, she works as design engineer at S.C. Glasswall S.R.L.

Her first contact with the Japanese language was in 2003, at the Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest, where she began studying Japanese language (in 2004 she obtained JLPT N4, and in 2005 she won the Jury’s Special Prize at the Japanese language presentation contest).
